I found all of these images on a photography school website. Each of them have an element that I would like to represent in my thesis as well as my professional shoots. Below is the website where I got them from. The site also has tips and input on the photos that I found really helpful for the type of photography I want to pursue.

All these peices are works made from fiber. The artist is Maya Schonenberger. I decided to research fiber works because I am taking a course next semester that will teach me to create fiber structures. This is a process and medium that I would like to use in my thesis. Her website is:

A friend of mine showed me the work of Kerry Kolenut last semester after hearing about the environmental portraits I was starting on. Her images have beautiful color. In her series Television she captures the subjects expression as they are viewing the television. Some of the people are so enveloped in the show it is ridiculous. Two of the ones I've posted picture children. The one in the kitchen especially catches my eye. It is so funny to me how common it is becoming to have a television included in your kitchen decor.

These images are all from Bill Owens book Suburbia. I have studied his images over the last year or so and have found his environmental portraits so intriguing. I love the way he captures the people in their natural setting and makes the viewer feel lie they know what the subject is thinking or feeling. I would like to incorporate that understanding into my work. These images were shoot from http://www.billowens.com/.

These images were all just too lovely! Each one had a simplicity and a complexity that I really enjoyed. I'm normally such a people watcher but this time I wanted to search more scenes and environments. These three environments are all very different and each hold different feeling and emotion drawn from perspective and color and space. Enjoy.

I've been focusing on my Granddad a lot. The object in these images belonged to my grandfather. He had loads of old handmade ornaments tucked away in a storage unit that we found after he passed away. No one in the family knew the unit even existed until after he passed and we got the bill. The ornaments were separated into piles by families. Sorting through and looking at these images were good and bad. They brought back such wonderful memories but also made me miss him more.

I found these images at the Chelsea Gallery in NY. These three photos were scattered among other photographs of nature and architecture. I have been exploring the way different photographers photograph portraits amd I was really intrigued by the point of view she took with these ones. All the portraits she displayed showed no faces. I enjoyed that, I felt like I could put myself into this photo and make it about me. I didn't have to make up a life scenario for someone I didn't know, I could be me in these photographs and that drew me into reading what was around the figure and what surrounding they/I encountered.

These are all recent portraits I took. Two were random and the third was an attempt at shooting in the business of downtown, trying to work on my shooting style and create something of my own. It amazes me how differently we see people and who thinks what is most important in a photograph.
